VIRTUAL NATIONAL ANATOMAGE TOURNAMENT QUALIFIER

The Virtual National Anatomage Tournament Qualifier is a team-based competition to test student’s knowledge of anatomy. Teams of 3 to 4 students will compete in an anatomy test utilizing a cadaver from the Anatomage Table to qualify for the National Anatomage Tournament.

Students will take the test over a Zoom meeting hosted by Anatomage, where we will share controls of the software with the student team. Each team will be asked to select a single “team lead” who will be shared control of the Anatomage software over Zoom to take the test. The rest of the team will provide feedback on which structure to submit for the answer. The goal is to score as many points as possible within the allotted time by correctly identifying anatomical structures.

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR THE NATIONAL ANATOMAGE TOURNAMENT?

To qualify for the 2024 National Anatomage Tournament, teams have two options:

  • Compete at an official Anatomage Tournament & place 1st-3rd place
  • Score 85% or higher in the Virtual National Anatomage Tournament Qualifier

Achieving a score of 85% or above (17 or more correct answers) in the virtual qualifier being held January 15-19, 2024 secures an invitation to compete at the National Anatomage Tournament, set to take place at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on June 1, 2024.

Additionally, teams that don’t hit the 85% mark in the virtual qualifier still have opportunities to qualify for the National Tournament through any official Anatomage Tournament.

VIRTUAL QUALIFIER SCHEDULE

  • Dates: January 15 – January 19
  • Time: 9 AM – 5 PM Monday – Friday

Tournament Topics

Questions will be focused on locating and identifying anatomical structures. The location of the structure being asked will be derived from these anatomical systems:

  • Skeletal (bones, bony landmarks, and ligaments)
  • Muscular
  • Digestive
  • Respiratory
  • Cardiovascular (heart and major blood vessels)
  • Nervous (brain, spinal cord, and major nerves)

Technology Requirements

  • A Windows PC/laptop or Mac (preferably with a mouse). A Chromebook, iPad, or smartphone cannot be used by Team Captains.
  • Stable Internet connection. The Team Captain will be remotely controlling the Anatomage Team member’s screen via Zoom so this is crucial!
  • Zoom Client installed, updated and running.
  • The other team members can join the Zoom through any device if they are not in the same room as the Team Captain.

Accessing Anatomage Software During Tournament

This tournament will be conducted through Zoom, so your team will need to enter the meeting through the link provided by Anatomage.

Once in the meeting, your team captain will be granted remote access to the Anatomage Table to make answer selections provided by all team members.

Your team captain will be able to interact with the cadaver by rotating, panning/dragging, and zooming in/out as needed. All structures will be visible superficially, so you will not need to remove structures, but you may need to rotate or zoom in on the cadaver to locate the answer.
